Faith

While I attend a non-denominational church, my faith is not rooted in a denomination, religious tradition, or a system of rules. At its core, my faith is about relationship: relationship with Abba Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.

I believe God created us for relationship with Him from the very beginning. Throughout Scripture, we see His desire to dwell with His people, walk with them, and reveal His love, goodness, and faithfulness. Sin created separation between humanity and God, but God did not leave us there.

I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the fulfillment of God's promises and prophecy. He did not come to establish another religious system. Through His life, He revealed the heart of the Father and showed us what it looks like to live in relationship with Him. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life and willingly became the ultimate sacrificial Lamb. Through His death, burial, and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness, redemption, reconciliation, and restored relationship with God. Because of Jesus, the separation caused by sin has been overcome and we can come boldly before the Father.

Before His ascension, Jesus promised the Holy Spirit, and I believe that promise is just as real for believers today. The Holy Spirit is not simply a doctrine or theological concept. He is the living presence of God dwelling within us, guiding, comforting, convicting, teaching, strengthening, and transforming us as we learn to follow Jesus.

I believe that as followers of Christ, we are temples of the Holy Spirit and have direct access to God. We can pray, listen, seek His wisdom, search His Word, and learn to recognize His leading. As our relationship with Him deepens, He transforms us from the inside out. This is why I often talk about our vertical relationship with God. When that relationship is properly aligned, it changes the way we live horizontally with our spouses, children, families, friends, coworkers, and communities.

I believe Scripture is the inspired Word of God and the foundation for truth, wisdom, and discernment. His Word does not exist simply to give us information about God. It continually points us toward Him, reveals His character, teaches us who we are in Christ, and shows us how we are called to live.

I believe every person is created in the image of God and therefore has inherent worth, dignity, purpose, and value. Our circumstances, diagnoses, mistakes, wounds, failures, or pasts do not determine our worth. I believe God is still in the business of healing, restoring, redeeming, and transforming lives, and no person is outside the reach of His grace.

As followers of Jesus, I believe we are called to be salt and light. We are called to love, serve, disciple, encourage, speak truth with grace, and point people toward Christ. We can walk beside one another, pray for one another, share wisdom, provide practical tools, and help carry one another's burdens, but we must always remember that we are not the source of another person's healing, transformation, or salvation. God is.

That belief shapes everything I do through Christian Mental Health Coaching and Mentoring, education, advocacy, ministry, support communities, workshops, and retreats. I can bring education, experience, practical tools, compassion, and biblical truth to the table, but I never want someone to become dependent upon me for something that ultimately comes from God.

For me, faith has never become more about religion. It has become more about relationship: knowing Abba Father, following Jesus, being led and transformed by the Holy Spirit, and learning every day what it means to surrender more fully to Him. My hope is that everything I do ultimately points beyond me and toward the One in whom true identity, freedom, healing, hope, and purpose are found.
